Welcome to Writing for Resilience!
Our 21st-century world is complex, fast, and often demanding:
We race the clock;
Worry about finding or keeping a job;
Face economic difficulties;
Stretch ourselves between the needs of elderly parents and the demands of child-rearing and parenting;
Read and watch daily news that leaves us feeling overwhelmed, heart-sick, and disturbed.
And yet, with all these challenges, there is something we can count on: Our Inner Resilience.
Resilience is in-born, an instinct waiting to be recognized, tapped into, experienced.
As a person who has been blind from birth, I know firsthand the need for and the power of resilience. Often people say, “If I lost my sight, I don’t think I could do anything.”
But resilience is the ability to live creatively, with joy and satisfaction, whatever our circumstances.
It’s like a beautiful flame inside of us that just needs fanning to take hold and transform any challenge into a gift. It’s a resource that when you call on it, can help you grow your life in surprising and beautiful ways.
On the following pages, you’ll discover opportunities to grow and tap into your resilience through expressive writing and coaching.
For over twenty-five years, I’ve used focused writing to:
- Manage feelings;
- Rehearse events;
- Learn from my wise inner self;
- Pray;
- Heal relationships and more.
All you need is a piece of paper, a pen, and quiet time to listen.
Your own words, whatever they are, can lead you to insight, creativity, flexibility and compassion–the components of resilience.
On this site you’ll find:
- Information about upcoming journal-keeping classes;
- Information about one-to-one coaching
- Resources to help you foster your resilience;
- Guest posts by people who have tapped into their resilience and grown their lives
- Helpful writing prompts and other nuggets to stimulate thinking, feeling, and writing.
Visit often; leave a comment. Let’s grow our resilience together.
